A large group of technical ceramics are used as important structural materials due to their high stiffness and compressive strength compared to metals. Technical ceramics are generally superior in hardness than plastic & metal. As a result, it’s often used as heavy-duty forming tools, tiles for wear protection and ballistic.

KEY PROPERTIES

GEARS & THREADS

Gears and threads are important for the integration of ceramic components with plastic or metal component. Threads are difficult to machine in ceramics but they can can be printed by ceramic AM directly. We have printed threads in ceramic components for some customers to facilitate assembly for their existing machines.

MECHANICAL PARTS

Alumina and zirconia materials have the same material properties as their industrial counterparts. The part produced by ceramic AM can be utilized for end use. With freedom of design and fast delivery, the cost can be competitive for small batch production.

WAFER PROCESSING

Manifolds are traditionally produced by dividing the complex part into several simple pieces before assembling them together. For ceramics, the assembled part sometimes has inferior mechanical properties than parts without assembly. With ceramic AM, complex manifolds can be produced as one piece with the possibility of adding more functionality.
